Alberta politics and polling with Brown & Petty

Today on the pod, we’re heading West to take a deep dive into Alberta politics, with two great friends of the pod, Janet Brown & Kathleen Petty. Both have been on here before. And both know prairie politics far better than I do. Kathleen is the host of her own fantastic pod, West of Centre. A co-founding producer and host of CBC Newsworld, today, she’s Executive Producer of CBC News in Calgary. Janet is the Principal of Janet Brown Opinion Research, based in Calgary and she’s been examining and tracking public opinion in Alberta for over 25 years. Janet is one of the best pollsters I know and there’s no research-voice I trust more on what going on in that province. So here’s where we’re going with this discussion:

There’s a new poll out, conducted by Janet for the CBC, and we’re going to explore its findings. What does the poll say right now about the likely results of the next election? Are Albertans actually excited about the NDP or resigned to them? And what does the poll tell us about Alberta attitudes toward the federation? And more!
