David Lametti

I’m so excited to welcome this week’s guest: The Honourable David Lametti, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada.

Minister Lametti was first elected as MP for LaSalle-Émard-Verdun in 2015 and served as a Parliamentary Secretary until 2019. Prior to entering politics, he was a Professor of Law at McGill University and served as Associate Dean of the Faculty of Law at McGill for 3 years, as well as a member of the University’s Senate. He holds degrees from U of T and McGill, as well as a Master of Laws from Yale Law School and a Doctor of Philosophy in Law from Oxford University.

We’re going to talk broadly today about Mr. Lametti’s agenda for the Department of Justice. How does he see the role of the department in a world as divided as this? What’s his view of the convoy protests – both what it represents and how best to deal with it? We’re going to talk about the Indigenous agenda within his portfolio. And we’re going to talk about Bill 21.
